In line with Section 41 of the Electricity Act, 2003 read alongwith Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (Sharing of Revenue derived from utilization of Transmission Assets for other business) Regulations, 2007, POWERGRID is contemplating to utilize its existing transmission assets for the purpose of mounting telecom antennas for Mobile Telecom Service Provider (TSP)/Telecom Operators and to provide electricity for operation of mobile communication equipment by tapping the induced power in the earth wire.
For entering into such an endeavor, POWERGRID has filed Petition bearing no. 180/MP/2017 with the Hon’ble Commission. A copy of the petition was uploaded on CERC e-filing portal on 11th August 2017 and physical copy of the same was sent to all the State Utilities on 24th August 2017.
Subsequently, financial proposal was submitted to Hon’ble Commission on 03rd May 2018, which was uploaded by CERC on its website (http://cercind.gov.in/Archive18.html) on 04th July 2018 for comments.
In line with Hon’ble Commission direction vide RoP dated 05th October 2018, petition alongwith financial proposal is hereby being posted on our website for inviting comments from State Distribution Licensees by 14th October 2018.
