POWERGRID requires Assistant Engineers and Junior Engineers in Electrical discipline on Fixed Tenure Basis
Pursuant to our Advertisement in the Times of India dated 17th September 2008 regarding requirement of Assistant Engineers and Junior Engineers in Electrical discipline on Fixed Tenure Basis for the work related to Strengthening & Augmentation of Distribution and Sub-Transmission System, Rural Electrification and other consultancy works in the States of Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Goa, Orissa, Rajasthan, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, the requirement also exists for works related to Rural Electrification in the State of Chattisgarh.

Introduction
about the Job:
Government of India
has given a special emphasis for rural electrification of the villages and households
in the country with the ultimate aim of providing “Electricity to All” under Rajiv Gandhi Grameen
Vidyutikaran Yojna and has involved Central
PSUs to supplement the efforts of the State Govt., State
Utilities for implementation of the programme. POWERGRID
has been assigned around 31000 villages at a cost of Rs.
3000 crores to be implemented on turnkey basis in the
states of Assam, Bihar, Chattisgarh, Gujarat, Goa, Orissa,
Rajasthan, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh and West
Bengal on behalf of State Utilities. These schemes are being implemented in a time
bound manner on priority basis.

Essential
Qualification:

Assistant Engineer
|
B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc (Engg.) degree / AMIE in Electrical discipline from a recognized
University/ Institution with minimum 55% marks.

|
Diploma in Engineering in Electrical discipline from
a recognized Polytechnic with minimum 55% marks.

Upper Age
Limit as on 01.09.2008
Upper age limit is 28 years for Assistant Engineer and 27 years for
Junior Engineer. Relaxation to reserved category candidates are
provided as per Government Directives as given below:

WITH DISABILITY
- Maximum Age Limit is relaxed by five years in case of General
Category, ten years in case of SC category and eight years in case of OBC(NCL) category
- Qualifying Marks in Essential Qualification is pass mark.

- Maximum Age Limit is relaxed by five years.
- Qualifying Marks in Essential Qualification is pass mark.
RELAXATIONS AND CONCESSIONS
- OTHER BACKWARD CLASSES (NON CREAMY LAYER)
Maximum Age Limit is relaxed by three years,
provided a copy of OBC (NCL) certificate in the format prescribed by the Govt. of
India for appointment in Govt. of India Undertaking from a competent authority clearly
stating that the candidate does not belong to creamy layer is enclosed with the
Resume.
RELAXATIONS AND CONCESSIONS -
J & K DOMICILE (01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989)
Maximum Age Limit is relaxed by five years in
case of General Category, ten years in case of SC/ST category and eight years in
case of OBC(NCL) category provided age relaxation cum
domicile certificate in the prescribed format issued by a competent authority is
enclosed with the Resume.
RELAXATIONS AND CONCESSIONS
- EX-SERVICEMEN
Ex-Service man having a minimum
of six month continuous service are allowed age relaxation to the extent
of the period spent in service plus three years subject to the condition that the
resultant age after deducting his period of service from his actual age does not
exceed the prescribed age limit by more than three years.
Remuneration:
Assistant Engineer
Selected candidates will
be paid an all inclusive monthly consolidated remuneration of Rs.
16,000 in the first year of their tenure and next year onwards pay in the
payscale of Rs. 10,750-16,750/- and other
allowances as admissible. The “Gross Salary” in the second year will be approximately
Rs. 35,000/- per month.
Junior Engineer
Selected candidates will
be paid an all inclusive monthly consolidated remuneration of Rs.
7,300/- in the first year of their tenure and next year onwards pay in the payscale of Rs. 7,300 – 12,660/-
and other allowances as admissible. The “Gross Salary” in the second year will be
approximately Rs. 21,000/- per month.
Health
Applicants should have sound health. Candidates
with myopia and hypermetropia exceeding +4.00,
squint and colour blindness (partial or full), need
not apply. Appointment of selected candidates in POWERGRID shall be subject to medical
fitness as per Medical Norms and Standards of POWERGRID. No relaxation in health
standard is allowed.
Selection Process
Candidates meeting the advertised criteria for
the post mentioned above shall be shortlisted for Interview.
Candidates shall have the option to appear for Interview in Hindi or English.
Candidates will have to qualify in the Interview
to be adjudged suitable for empanelment for Appointment. The Offer of Appointment
shall be issued to the suitable candidates in the order of merit and based on the
number of vacancies. However the final appointment of selected candidates will be
subject to candidates being found medically fit in the Pre-Employment Medical Examination
to be conducted as per the Norms and Standards of Medical Fitness.

General Information
- The appointment is purely on fixed tenure basis for a period
of two years, which may be extended for a further period of one year depending upon
the requirement and based on periodical assessment of performance. The post is not
against any permanent vacancy. This appointment will not entitle any candidate to
claim for regular/ permanent employment in POWERGRID in future.
- All eligibility qualification should be from a recognized
Institution or University.
- Mere submission of application does not guarantee the adequacy
