Mr. S. K. Chaturvedi
Chairman and Managing Director
Shri S. K. Chaturvedi, assumed the charge of Chairman and Managing Director of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited on 1st August, 2008. Prior to joining POWERGRID, he was working as Director (Personnel) with NHPC Ltd. A first class first Post Graduate from Lucknow University, Sh. Chaturvedi has served for 30 years in frontline PSUs such as NMDC, NTPC, POWERGRID and NHPC Ltd. A veteran of Power Transmission, Sh. Chaturvedi, in his earlier stint in POWERGRID, was instrumental in successful amalgamation of various power utilities in POWERGRID and steering latest HR interventions in the organization. Having traveled extensively internationally, his articles have been published  in many journals of national and international repute.Sh. Chaturvedi has the rare distinction of having experience in Thermal & Hydro Projects and Transmission of Power for more then three decades.

Mr. J. Sridharan
Director (Finance)
He has graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Madras University. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India. He has 32 years of work experience primarily in the field of financial management. He has worked in organisations such as Airport Authority of India and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited. He was appointed as a Director on our Board in December, 2005.

Mr. V. M. Kaul
Director (Personnel)
Shri V. M. Kaul has assumed the charge of Director (Personnel) on 16th March, 2009. Prior to taking up this assignment, he was working as Executive Director (Corporate Planning). Shri Kaul has multi-disciplinary experience of working in Human Resources, Business Development and Joint Ventures. Shri Kaul has a B. Tech. (Mechanical) degree from IIT, Delhi and an MBA. He has more than 35 years of experience and has worked in NTPC and EIL before joining POWERGRID.

Mr. R.N.Nayak
Director (Operations)
Shri R.N.Nayak assumed the charge of Director(Operations) on 16th May,2009. Prior to taking up this assignment he was working as Executive Director(Engg/HR). Shri R.N Nayak  received his B.Sc in Electrical Engineering from REC Rourkela and M.Tech degree from IIT Kharagpur, India.  and has been  associated with concept to commissioning of transmission projects including EHV system planning, design, engineering, procurement, quality management and implementation. His experience also covers design, engineering and implementation of State-of-the-Art Load Despatch and Communication system and Telecommunication network.  

Shri I. S. JHA
Director (Projects)  
Shri I.S.Jha, aged 50 years, is Director (Projects) of our Company. He is an Electrical Engineer from NIT, Jamshedpur and a well known Electrical Power System Professional. Prior to his new assignment he has successfully served as Executive Director (Engineering) in the company. He has also worked as Executive Director - Corporate Monitoring Group and held the position of Executive Director of North Eastern Region. Apart from these functions he was a lead Member in Planning, Engineering and Execution of APDRP and RGGVY schemes in POWERGRID. He has published numerous articles, technical papers in the field of power system in various international and National Conferences/Symposia.

Dr. P. K. Shetty
Independent Director
He has graduated with a Master of Science degree from University of Agricultural Science, Dharwad, Karnataka and also holds a PhD from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi. He was the Head of the Environmental Studies Unit and also served as the Dean (Administration) at the National Institute of Advanced Studies, Bangalore. He is currently the Professor and Dean (School of Natural Sciences and Engineering) at National Institute of Advanced Studies, Bangalore,and is also the Honorary Chairman, MEDT Group of Institutions, Bangalore. He was appointed as a Director on our Board in July 2007.

Prof. A. S. Narag
Independent Director
He has graduated with a Master of Science degree and PhD from Delhi University and also holds an ITP Certificate from Graduate School of Business Administration, Harvard University. He has served as the Dean, Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi and has held various important positions in the University of Delhi. He is currently a professor at the Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi. He was appointed as a Director on our Board in July 2007.

Mr. Anil K. Agarwal
Independent Director
He has graduated with a Master of Commerce degree from University of Delhi and also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from University of Delhi. He has been actively involved in Industry Associations, for development of International Trade and Investments and was the President of the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (the ‘ASSOCHAM’). He is currently the Chairman of the International Affairs of the ASSOCHAM and a Council Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He was appointed as a Director on our Board in July 2007.

Shri. F. A. Vandrevala
Independent Director
He has graduated with a Bachelor of Technology degree in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur and also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from Xavier’s Labour Relations Institute, Jamshedpur. He has over 34 years of work experience primarily in the field of Steel, Power and Telecom. He is currently the Chairman and Managing Director of Hirco Developments Private Limited. He was appointed as a Director on our Board in July 2007.

Smt. Sarita Prasad
Independent Director
Smt. Sarita Prasad (61) is an independent Director of our Company. She holds a Masters Degree in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics and Diploma in Development Administration from Birmingham University U.K. She joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1969 and retired as Secretary to Government of India, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on 31.08.2006. She has held important postings in the Central and State Government. She was Managing Director of three State Corporations and Financial Commissioner, Irrigation and Water Supply in the State Government. In the Government of India she worked as Director in the Ministry of Defence and Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Personnel. She is a Director of our Board with effect from August, 2008.

Shri Ashok Khanna
Independent Director
Shri Ashok Khanna, aged 60 years, is an Independent Director of our Company. He is a first class B.Tech. (Hons.) in textile from Bradford University (U.K.). He is Ex. President of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) and Founder Chairman of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Himachal Pradesh. He has been on the Managing Committee of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and also remained  Member/Director of various important organizations/associations. Presently, he is on the Managing Committee of Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) and is Chairman-Internal Trade Committee of ASSOCHAM. He was appointed as Director on our Board in April, 2008.
